About the Angel Capital Summit
If you’re a control junkie, involving yourself in producing the Angel Capital Summit probably isn’t for you…
The Angel Capital Summit is a highly collaborative ‘design/build’ event that’s in a perpetual process of creation driven by the people and organizations that involve themselves in it. Right now we have dozens of volunteers operating in 13 different committees that have been working for months to pull this event together. We’ve also thousands and thousands of people helping us build out the Angel Capital Summit networks online, which we are constantly amazed by…
We’re pretty proud of what we’ve done. As a group, we hit what we aim at, and when we hit it, it moves. We’re good, trustworthy and talented. So do you think you’re up for this? That you’d like to help? Follow this link and check in with one or more of the Angel Capital Summit Committee Chairs for more information.
How the Angel Capital Summit Works
The Angel Capital Summit process – how we get entrepreneurs and investors together – is elegant, efficient, effective and educational...
It starts with each entrepreneur that wants to present at the Angel Capital Summit building an Investment Summary for their business. These Investment Summaries are then forwarded on to their preferred Angel Capital Summit Investor Partner organizations. Angel Capital Summit Investor Partners are business incubators, professional associations, investor networks and other types of organizations that work with entrepreneurs to improve their businesses.
Each of the Angel Capital Summit Investor Partners recruits advisors and investors to their Angel Capital Summit Investor Partner group on the Angel Capital Summit website to help with the review of these Investor Profiles. (This process is managed online with a collaborative filtering tool kit developed by the Business Catapult. Please note that the Business Catapult is free to use by most organizations that work with entrepreneurs, and that it really works!) It’s highly interactive, which means that entrepreneurs can both improve and fix flaws in their businesses with help from their Angel Capital Summit Investor Partner group’s advisors and investors during the deal screening process.
When they’ve reviewed the Investment Summaries and selected the best of their entrepreneurs to go forward, they then move the entrepreneurs Investment Summary to the Angel Capital Summit Executive Committee for final review and selection. (On that note, last year’s Angel Capital Summit EC had 57 members representing over $6,000,000,000 in investments made.) By example, applications for the Angel Capital Summit ’08 came in from as far away as Bangladesh, and the most active investor group post the Angel Capital Summit was a private equity group in London. But most of them were right here – in our towns, cities and states.
Note also that because all of the deal screening and mentoring is done online, every entrepreneur that applies to present gets all the comments made on their Investment Summary by the investors and advisors released back to them whether they were selected or not.
The Angel Capital Summit is redefining what both success and failure are for investor fairs. Because of the social networking components, we’ve seen a number of entrepreneurs that have been through the Angel Capital Summit process do what we refer to as ‘hit for the cycle’ – they’ve found investors, board directors, talent and customers. We’ve also had a number of entrepreneurs not selected to present take what they’ve learned from the deal screening and mentoring processes and rebuild their business models – and then open or grow their businesses more effectively. We’ve even had entrepreneurs selected to present pull their application because the deal screeners showed them how to bootstrap. These are wins, all the way around – which is what the Angel Capital Summit is all about.
The result of all of this is that the Angel Capital Summit builds better entrepreneurs faster. Want to help? It’s both easy and free! Follow these links to sign up:
