Call For Presenters - Details And Background

Qualification

To become a presenting company, you must qualify as an entrepreneurial company that is seeking angel financing.

How This Works

In partnership with your fellow entrepreneurs at the Business Catapult, who designed the tools and processes in the deal screening system, we are working with many of the leading incubators, investment groups and other organizations with ties to entrepreneurism and investing in Colorado. Learn more about how the system works.

Application due dates are listed in the table below. You will also be asked to upload an executive summary of your business concept, preferably in Adobe PDF format. Your executive summary should be no more than five pages. We provide you with a checklist of what is required and recommended for inclusion in your Executive Summary. If you need to attach additional documents to meet our requirement, please do so on the Investment Summary. Please ensure your application is complete and is not missing key sections which will disqualify your plan from being selected.

Your application will go through one of these organizations (link is below). If have no affiliation with any of these groups, please nominate yourself to the Angel Capital Summit 'Pool', at the bottom of the list. The group you choose will review your application using our tools, and will pass along the companies that seem worthy of further consideration as 'semi-finalists'. This process will be completed no later than October 20th.

What Happens Next?

All the semi-finalists will be reviewed by our Executive Deal Screening Committee, comprised of many of the most respected investors and advisors in Colorado. This panel will once again review your deal within our framework, and the top 40 will be selected as Finalists and presenters on November 3rd.

Of the applications and business plans reviewed by the Angel Capital Summit review board, a final group of companies will be invited to present at the Angel Capital Summit.

What Happens if I'm Selected?

If you're selected by the Angel Capital Summit review board as part of the larger pool of candidates, you'll be assigned a coach to help you prepare for the event. Please note that this isn't just a matter of polishing up your presentation: your coach will help you understand your Benchmark Survey results and what they mean to your business concept, help you decide on active steps you can take to strengthen your business by addressing the weak spots highlighted by the Investment Summary & Benchmark Report, and decide how best to present your business as an investment opportunity at the event.

What Am I Committing To?

  • Mandatory pitch practice: all companies selected to present at the Angel Capital Summit are required to participate in a 2 hour pitch practice session,to be held November 9th in Denver and November 10th in Boulder, one week before the conference. In the pitch practice, each company presents to all the other presenting companies. each practice session is 30 minutes, but we require you to stay for two hours so you may get and receive feedback from your peer presenters. Historically, companies have found this to extremely beneficial in refining their presentations.
  • Presentation fee: The presentation fee is set by the investor partner that brings you to the presentation. For companies screened by the Angel Capital Summit review board, the presentation fee is $350 - $300 for RVC members. This fee is applicable only to those companies actually selected to present at the Angel Capital Summit and includes one free admission to the event.
  • Event registration: all attendees from the presenting companies will be required to register for the event.

All accredited investors in the audience will be provided with forms they can use to indicate an interest in following up with your company. We will gather this data and help connect investors with the company in which they expressed an interest. In addition, a separate room will be available at the conference for use by companies and prospective investors for more private conversations. Finally after the close of the conference you'll be invited to a Presenters/Investors only reception.

Get Started

If you feel well-enough informed, let's jump right in.

Each entrepreneur will submit an application through one of our partner organizations, which are listed below. These organizations will review your nomination during the first round of selection, and pass along the ones they believe to be of the best quality. All of those will then be reviewed by our Executive Screening Team, who choose the companies that will present.

New organizations are signing up every day. We have verbal commitments from over 20 groups, and will be bringing them online every day. If you have no affiliations with these groups, you can submit your nomination to the Angel Capital Summit (ACS) group, listed as 'default' at the bottom of the page. If you submit to the ACS group, we may recommend that you move your nomination to one of these groups at a later date.

Partner Organizations

If you have an affiliation with these organizations, we recommend that you apply through them.

Default Angel Capital Summit Group

If you do not have a strong affiliation (membership, direct invitation or something more than "I met those guys once"), then apply directly to the ACS Group.
